Solomon Moves the Ark into the Temple

5:2 Then Solomon convened Israel’s elders – all the leaders of the Israelite tribes and families – in Jerusalem, ¹  so they could witness the transferal of the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the City of David ²  (that is, Zion). ³  5:3 All the men of Israel assembled before the king during the festival ⁴  in the seventh month. ⁵  5:4 When all Israel’s elders had arrived, the Levites lifted the ark.

[5:2]  ² sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.
